SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS

Like-minded people of our faith community come together for various activities.

Lots of other people within our faith community share common interests that result in all sorts of one-off activities happening.

Current Special Interest Groups include:

Cove Quilters

This group meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month in the church complex. We don’t meet on the fourth Monday in December, January, or public holidays. This is a community group, and we welcome anyone who may want to attend.

The cost is $2 per night [to cover costs of electricity and use of the premises]. We ask those attending to take turns in bringing something for supper [including about half a litre of milk]. Tea, coffee and sugar are provided.

Meetings start at 7.00pm. Power is available for sewing machines; tables, bulldog clips and masking tape are available for tacking or pinning large quilts. [Please bring your own pins!] We also have our own irons and ironing boards. We ask those attending to help with the tasks involved in preparing our workspaces: putting up tables, setting up the iron and ironing boards, getting out the power leads, and putting things away at the end of the evening.

Occasionally there will be workshops and swaps throughout the year; further information is provided as these opportunities arise. Any suggestions would be welcome.

We encourage those who attend to assist others who may have problems with their patchwork and/or quilting—or whatever your crafty preferences may be. Some of us have only been quilting for a comparatively short time, so would much appreciate the input and assistance of more experienced fellow-quilters.

We welcome any crafters; you don’t have to be a quilter. Bring along your knitting, cross-stitch, scrapbooking, embroidery—anything of a vaguely crafty nature! We all enjoy the fellowship of the evening, and would welcome anyone who would like to join us. If you know of someone who may be interested let me know and I will happily give them further information.

Men's Retreat

The men’s retreat  is a time for male members of the congregation to get together and go fishing and share manly fellowship.

Church Camp

Church camps are still happening, but not regularly. A camp is planned for 2012, so come and join us. There's plenty of caring and sharing, and a good time to be had by all.

In the past, camps have been held at Moonta, Normanville, the Grampians, Kingston on the Murray and Mt Barker.
